Running Time: 12 hours and 26 minutes
#1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews is back with the newest book in the exciting Hidden Legacy series—the thrilling conclusion to her trilogy featuring fierce and beautiful Prime magic user Catalina Baylor。

An escaped spider, the unexpected arrival of an Imperial Russian Prince, the senseless assassination of a powerful figure, a shocking attack on the supposedly invincible Warden of Texas, Catalina’s boss。。。 And it’s only Monday。

Within hours, the fate of Houston—not to mention the House of Baylor—now rests on Catalina, who will have to harness her powers as never before。 But even with her fellow Prime and fiancé Alessandro Sagredo by her side, she may not be able to expose who’s responsible before all hell really breaks loose。

Best book in the trilogy? Maybe… it was really good。 A lot of things were cleared up。 The only thing is that I don’t feel Catalina & Alessandro。 Like there relationship is an afterthought。 Never really felt the chemistry。 Outside of that amazing story。 I hope Arabella gets hers!!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon, and House Andrews for the opportunity to read an ARC of Ruby Fever。 An honest review was requested but not required。I am an unabashed and unapologetic House Andrews superfan。 I have enjoyed every book that they have authored that I have read, so far。 In my opinion, the quality of writing, plotting, characterization, dialogue, everything, in their work is superlative。 It is so difficult to pick: Hidden Legacy? Kate Daniels? Innkeeper? Kinsmen? The Edge? You literally cannot go wrong。 It seems that each series, while I’m reading it, is my favorite。 I found myself the fortunate recipient of permission to read an ARC of Ruby Fever, although I had already happily pre-ordered my copy。 I am looking forward very much to reading the “final” copy and discovering what, if anything, is new。 It’s unclear now if HA intends to continue the Baylors’ series with Arabella’s story (or Bern’s, or Leon’s, or anyone else’s for that matter)。 I would 100% be first in line, with bells on, if they choose to, just as I will clamor to read anything else they write。 If they do NOT choose to continue with the Baylors, rest assured that things here are left [more than] satisfactorily。 You can walk away a happy reader even if it is bittersweet to part with characters we’ve all grown to love。As my fellow reviewer Francesca points out, this book is the culmination of Catalina’s character growth。 Catalina started this series in Nevada’s books as an insecure teen, not yet grown into her full maturity, powers, or strengths。 (And yes: those ARE different things。) In Ruby Fever we have the Catalina who has been polished and sanded by being proverbially tumbled with rocks for quite some time: she is confident; she is prepared; she is strategic; she is secure; she is EMPOWERED。 I love it。 I love her relationships with her family and her friends and her fiancée。 I love her ownership of the position of Head of House。 I love her hard-won business acumen and her martial skills; I love the way she seeks to fully understand her strengths and her limitations。 Catalina is a kick-butt character and I almost feel proud of her growth and accomplishments。 Wow, I am lame。 LOL。 And yes, Alessandro has also matured, as has Arabella。 We are treated to the return (or cameo) of practically everyone in the Baylor world who has made an appearance at some point in the series。 The stakes are higher than ever before (as they ought to be, in the climax of a series)。 Revelations are made (NO SPOILERS!) and new relationships are forged。 I must say, I will be very sad if Arabella isn’t treated to her own story, but I will understand。 We’re left with plenty of tidbits to fire up the old imaginations, regardless。You should definitely NOT, repeat, NOT, start with this book if you are new to the series。 It is not in any way a standalone。 But the Baylors (Hidden Legacy) series is well worth your time as a reader, as all of the HA books are, and I can’t recommend them highly enough。 If I remember I will come back after pub date and add some thoughts about spoiler-y issues, but perhaps better not to。 Each new surprise and tidbit in this story is a gift and I wouldn’t want to ruin a single one。 Coincidentally, I finished this on my birthday and it was the best present ever! 😊 。。。more

Rather disappointing after the high of the previous book which is probably Andrews' best book to-date。Pretty predictable plot, with an ending that ties everything up conveniently。 The character development for the central couple already happened by the end of the last book, so they're less exciting at this point。Highlight is when Victoria's around, but alas that does not happen a lot here。 Though while I'm quite done with Catalina's story, I am still interested in what an Arabella trilogy could Rather disappointing after the high of the previous book which is probably Andrews' best book to-date。Pretty predictable plot, with an ending that ties everything up conveniently。 The character development for the central couple already happened by the end of the last book, so they're less exciting at this point。Highlight is when Victoria's around, but alas that does not happen a lot here。 Though while I'm quite done with Catalina's story, I am still interested in what an Arabella trilogy could be。 Or maybe even stories about some of the other supporting characters。 I still find the Hidden Legacy world to have tons of potential。 Plus, Kate Daniels got 10 books, along with the beginnings of two different spinoff series。 。。。more

It’s now 2。45 am and I’ve just finished binge reading Ruby Fever。 It is such a deeply satisfying and wildly entertaining book, bringing to conclusion the web of conspiracy which spiralled through all six books of the Hidden Legacy series。 The Ilona Andrews duo has so many fans, I probably don’t need to catalogue the many virtues of their writing on display here。 Strong and intelligent writing, with a wealth of authentic detail。 The clever dialogue, which can be funny and emotional all at once。 T It’s now 2。45 am and I’ve just finished binge reading Ruby Fever。 It is such a deeply satisfying and wildly entertaining book, bringing to conclusion the web of conspiracy which spiralled through all six books of the Hidden Legacy series。 The Ilona Andrews duo has so many fans, I probably don’t need to catalogue the many virtues of their writing on display here。 Strong and intelligent writing, with a wealth of authentic detail。 The clever dialogue, which can be funny and emotional all at once。 The vivid descriptions of inventively choreographed fights。 Twisty plotting, with just enough clues for a reader to clutch her head and groan, “why didn’t I see that coming?” Interesting and engaging characters; old friends and enemies or new。 All of that is here。 I would like to acknowledge the Andrews’s mastery of pacing。 The book moves at breakneck speed, hurtling from fight to fight, but never at the expense of story。 There’s always enough downtime to catch up with the characters we’ve grown to love, or develop the plot, but never enough for the story to drag。 A book like Ruby Fever is what you get in the hands of talented writers, who respect their genre and their audience。Ruby Fever is fast-paced fun: high energy, gory, compulsively readable, urban fantasy。 The Hidden Legacy series is a splendid achievement and Ruby Fever is its crowning glory。 。。。more

The Hidden Legacy as a whole is one of the best paranormal romance series I have ever read。 The Baylor family is totally lovable in every way and the additional cast of characters is just top notch。 The mix of romance, comedy, sci-fi and mystery is perfectly done in a world that doesn't seem too much or confusing。 This book concludes a fantastic arc of books 4-6。 The Ilona Andrews writing team continues to be among my favorite authors out there and every new book s an auto-buy for me! What an explosive end to Catalina's trilogy。 I loved how it all wrapped up。 The ending fight scene was a little rushed for me - lots of characters brought back that were taken care of too quickly - but the overall whole was bravissimo。 And I hope against hope that Arabella gets her story told also! Well done! Best enjoyed after reading the earlier books in the series。This final installment in the Hidden Legacy series is a well written, dynamic story that still answered so many questions created during the series arc。 Linus Duncan, Evil Grandmother Tremaine, Arkan, Grandfather Sagredo - all the mysteries - the Whys - are explained。 The story is very satisfying but the thought that this could be the last is very, very sad。If there’s any chance at all for a novella, PLEASE!?! How was Leon earning more than Alessandro? How strong is Arthur and what all can he do? Do Connor and Nevada have another powerful child? Any info on Catalina and Alessandro? Bern and Runa? Arabella? Leon? Mom and Heart? Linus and Victoria? Do Bern or Leon find out who their fathers are? Or would we want to hear the backstory for how they came to live with the Baylors? So many opportunities…I preordered the audiobook back on January 23, and the ebook even earlier。 I was so looking forward to this book that I ran over to Barnes and Noble on Friday to buy a paperback copy that was released a few days early! As of this moment, I read the paper copy and was mostly through the ebook copy when I switched into the audio on release。Recommend this book in any format, on all levels。Re audio: Read at 1。4 speed。 Rankin does a decent enough JOB of narration。 I won’t go into detail on the multiple mispronunciations that annoy the heck out of me。 Well, I can’t help mentioning one of the words: Luciana。I still miss the one-woman audio play that was Renee Raudman。 She sounded like she really enjoyed performing the books AND I don’t remember mispronunciations。 。。。more

It's the conclusion of Catalina's story arc。 I cannot put into words how desperately I wanted this book。 I just have to know what sort of chaos and drama are packed into Ruby Fever。 The book starts off with a concise summary of past events, while the Baylors are looking to purchase a new home/base of operations。 With Runa and Bern going steady and the kids are mostly grown adults, everybody needs their own space。 The story kicks off with a normal work day for Baylor Investigations。 Unfortunately, one of their cases involves an expensive and smuggled spider, who escapes into the air vents after a botched hand-over。 This becomes a humorous side quest for the kiddo consultants (Ragnor and Matilda)。 And then the sh*t hits the proverbial fan with a murder and an attack on the Warden of Texas。 This sets off a chain of clashes and skirmishes between House Baylor and Arkan's organization。 This book was packed。 As in action-packed。 Full of drama, love, and badassery。 In the previous two books, Catalina comes into her own as a Prime Siren and Head of House Baylor。 In this final book for Catalina, we delve into another facet of Catalina's Siren abilities。 There were several plotlines that were neatly dealt with and some new ones were merely hinted at。 We've seen in previous books that Cornelius may be more powerful than his Significant designation and in Ruby Fever, it's pretty clear that Cornelius is not only a strong animal mage but also a very observant and loyal friend。 We also get a hint that Matilda may also be a Prime in her own right。 And then there is the whole Caesar subplot that was woven throughout the Hidden Legacies series, was revisited and we "finally" know the identity of Caesar。 I had my suspicions for some time, but it was nice to get confirmation。 Let's just say there are a lot of obvious details alluding to the identity of Caesar and the identity of their Grandfather (read the 'The Cool Aunt' deleted scene for clues)。 I did feel that Arabella was put on the back burner for a good chunk of the book。 Since this pseudo-trilogy focuses on Catalina, it makes sense。 Realistically, Arabella's powers should be kept secret, and involving her in a fight willy-nilly would not be in the best interest of the House。 But on the same side, the epilogue kind of throws secrecy out the window (hint hint wink wink)。 I sincerely appreciate the fact that Ilona and Gordon hinted at a possible love interest for Arabella。 If the writing duo ends up writing Arabella's story arc, they have some leeway and a place to start。 With the arrival of an Imperial Russian Prince, Catalina and Alessandro's relationship is tested。 The prologue included a lovely proposal with a ruby ring, but the engagement was hardly mentioned throughout the book。 I found it a little odd, but given all of the action going on, it's understandable that some details would fall into the cracks。 Overall, this book was the perfect conclusion to Catalina's story arc。 And spoiler alert: there's a wedding to look forward to。 。。。more

Does the deal involve Arabella and Prince Konstantin, Prince Mihail, or mysteriously powerful record keeper Michael? The Hidden Legacy fantasy world is vast and ever growing with plot threads and I would love to see the last Baylor sister Arabella get her happily ever after, of course, after a battle or two。 。。。more
